Coping with Negativity

Good evening,
I am pretty sure we all can relate to that unpleasant state of mind when without exception everything feels utterly wrong. Regardless of what thought strikes you or what deed you decide to perform, it merely adds to the flame of negativity relentlessly conquering your wit and it appears as though it could escalate into a massive explosion any second while there is absolutely no way for you to ease, let alone stop it.
It causes such an intense kind of passive aggression which makes you want to violently destroy things, shatter plates and hit your own head against the wall until that bloody feeling stops attempting to drive you insane. But seeing as even those actions do not seem to be quite right, you eventually won't. That is to be hoped for, at any rate.
Unfortunately, I have had to deal with that annoyance of an emotion far too often during the past year - still have to, precisely speaking. For instance, it took me several tries to figure out whether I should actually write this post or just let it be, since I had got the impression that it was somewhat inappropriate due to the negative impact it might potentially have on the reader's mood. However, my intention is not solely to whine about the inevitable suffering this world is capable of burdening each and every living creature with, but to find methods that enable one to keep on living despite it, instead. In this context, I consider it very important to point out that it is sheer impossible to abandon certain feelings without numbing the whole range of emotions, thus making it equally impossible to only eliminate the bad ones - therefore seeking a solution to get rid of them turns out to be a waste of time as well as energy.
As mentioned before, it is about reducing the negativity to a minimum and searching for effective ways to coexist with its remains. The key to that whole inner conflict may sound easy, yet should definitely not be underestimated in its difficulty to be implemented: distraction. Indeed, the answer is distraction. Do whatever it takes to keep your mind from wandering to those dark places that make you question basically anything. Getting lost in those thoughts may appear tempting from time to time, nevertheless it is not the right path to choose for those who strive for true happiness. I could not express it better than Lord Byron once did:

Sorrow is knowledge: they who know the most
Must mourn the deepest o'er the fatal truth,
The tree of knowledge is not that of life.

So, my advice for you is to fully devote yourself to your passions and interests, respectively to make them occupy as much space in your life as possible. Thinking about actions and words is good to a certain extent, however be careful not to let it take over you. Make up the courage and actually do stuff. Try to detect your very own aim in life and do your best to follow it. Never lose sight of it. Enjoy your stay on this beautiful planet while you can. Seize every second, but keep in mind to arrange enough time to rest. Encourage other people to do the same. Smile. :)
